God is Working it Out

Five years ago, on Valentine’s Day, I wrote this:

“Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?” (Genesis 18:25)

There is often this idea that God is not fair. I have heard people say that they feel like they they don’t deserve what is happening to them, or that they are not getting what they feel like they deserve. Many people get upset with God when they feel like they are not getting a fair chance in their lives and others think that they are just God’s hackie sack.

It is nice to know that even when a person feels like their life is not going the way they had hoped, the Judge of all the earth is still doing what is right. It may not look right to the individual, but they are only seeing a small piece of the picture.

Have you ever had an experience where someone showed you a picture of an extreme close up of something. Those can be a lot of fun to try and guess what they are. Many times it is too difficult to tell what the item is until we see the regular picture of it and then we think, “I should have known that!” The same is true of life on earth. People get the extreme closeup of their life in the moment they are living. God has perspective, he is standing back and can see how your life is fitting together into a beautiful work of art.

When things get tough and life seems unfair remember, God is not stupid, he knows what he is doing and he is doing it right. There is great comfort in knowing that he is in control!

I still believe this today! Our perspective on this life is so limited and we often get discouraged because we can’t put all the pieces together. And you know what? That’s ok!!! We don’t need to know how it all will work out, all we need to know is who is going to work it out–God!

If we only believed in what we could see at any given moment we would be hopeless. Thank God he is bigger than everything we will face and we can trust him with our lives.
