So, I’m on vacation today. We are out and about and I overhear a conversation between some folks who had just come from church. I won’t bore you with all the details, but they were complaining about the things they didn’t like about the service this morning. I did not hear one kind thing said. It reminded me of a few things:
- Church is not for you—it is for God. We go there to worship Him, not our preferences.
- If you openly complain about your church in public, don’t expect new people to show up. Why would someone go with you to a church that even you don’t like?
- Instead if complaining about how you don’t like the church, spend that energy volunteering to make it better. Chances are your church could use your help!
- If you must complain, tell it to someone who can actually help make a change. Anything else is potentially gossip.
