5 Things To Do When You Feel Like Giving Up

1 Samuel 30:6 [widescreen].png

Have you ever been in an impossible situation? I have. Things seemed hopeless. I didn’t think that I would ever make it out the other end without severe pain and major life changes. Thankfully, God is bigger than any challenge we may face!

So, what do you do when you feel like giving up?

David found himself in an impossible situation. They came up to a few or their cities that had been raided and burned to the ground by the enemy. They had carried off all the possessions and the people. Many of the men with David had lost everything including their wives and children. They were angry and wanted to kill David. What did David do when he faced this impossible situation.

Pray

It is amazing that prayer has become the last thing we do when we face a challenge. Let prayer be the first thing you run to when you feel like giving up. The first thing David did after he found himself in this impossible situation was to seek God’s direction (1 Sam 30:8).

Look for support

Once David was sure about the Lord’s direction, he gathered men around him and rallied them to the cause of God for them. He organized those who were going to help him fulfill his God-given assignment (1 Sam 30:9). When we are in a tough spot, we need people around us to help us keep moving forward.

Keep on fighting

David could have given up. It would have been easier. But, he had a vision for what God had given him for his future. So, rather than quit, David kept on fighting for what he knew God had for him (1 Sam 30:11-20).

Repeat

While David’s story was successful, yours may not end so quickly. You may have to go through days, weeks, months, or years of praying, supporting, and fighting before you make it to the end. But DO NOT GIVE UP!

Rejoice

Once they had succeeded, David made sure that everyone was able to join in the celebration equally (1 Sam 30:24-25). No matter how big or small of a part they played–everyone had won. Make sure that you celebrate the success of overcoming your impossible situation with those who helped you get through it.
